Alan Corley, DPh, is connected to the UT Health Sciences College of Pharmacy in ways that mirror a career defined by his deep commitment to community pharmacies and the care they provide and that are grounded in his family’s legacy of service.

Inspired by his parents—especially his trailblazing mother, one of the early women pharmacists in Tennessee—and raised in a household where giving back was simply expected, Dr. Corley has built a life around making a difference as a pharmacist, business owner, mentor, and public servant.

Today he and his wife Mary Lynn are extending that connection and commitment through a planned gift to the College of Pharmacy. While they have supported the College of Pharmacy in other ways, they see a legacy gift as a natural next step. “For us, including a legacy gift as part of our estate planning is a wonderful way to make a more meaningful contribution,” Dr. Corley says. “It allows us to have a greater and lasting impact than we might otherwise.”

Dr. Corley and Mary Lynn’s planned gift is designated for the Corley Family Endowed Scholarship, which they established in 1999 with Dr. Corley’s parents, Drs. Mareta and William Corley, to ensure that future pharmacy students have access to the financial support they need. “We want students to follow their dreams and to pursue the career that has been so rewarding for my family and me,” Dr. Corley says.

He also encourages others to consider similar legacy plans. “As you think about your estate, take time to explore the possibilities of supporting UT Health Sciences,” he says. “With a little advance planning, it’s relatively easy to establish an estate gift.”
